I have had RA for 28 years & have been using Humira for the past five. Two months ago I developed shingles in the tregeminal nerves of the face. The blisters resolved within 2 weeks, but I have postherpetic neuralgia. However, since developing shingles, my arthritis symptoms have disappeared for the first time since 1982. Has anyone else had this experience?

Hello there,

Brilliant news that the RA symptoms have disappeared. However very sorry you have
had shingles. It is a horrible thing. My Mother had it in her head and always felt an
aftermath for years.

I cannot help in your question but long may you be RA free.

I don't know whether to congratulate you or commiserate! Sorry that I can't answer you, though.

Welcome to the forum mf.

My daughter had shingles several years ago and her spots appeared on the side of her face like yours.

What drugs did they give you for it?

I ask because I have read posts on other forums from people who have been on a very strong course of anti biotics and their RA seems to have gone into remission as a result.
